If you hold overseas social work qualifications and are a non resident of Australia or deemed to be a non resident or are a non resident of Australia and have completed an Accredited Degree in Social Work, you need to have your qualification assessed to be eligible for membership.
The Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) is the official authority for assessment of overseas qualifications in Social Work, for the purpose of migration and employment in Australia.
Refer to the AASW website for details on how to have your qualifications assessed. There is no registration for social workers in Australia but eligibility for membership of an Australian social work association is required for many social work positions.
Once you have successfully completed the assessment process you are eligible to apply for SPSW membership.
