In 2004 the Board of the SPSW established a Locum Register for prospective employers of social workers; the register was expanded to include an Employment Register in 2009.
The goal of the Employment and Locum Register is to assist employers in finding qualified social workers and other human service workers as well as assisting both social workers and other human service workers to find either locum work or permanent positions. Both government and non government employment opportunities are circulated as a service to the human service sector.
Access to the Register
The SPSW invites social workers and other human service workers as well as employing agencies to access the SPSW Locum and Employment Register, free of charge.
Upon receipt of a request the SPSW Locum and Employment Register Facilitator will distribute the information via a data base which includes an extensive number of social workers and human service professionals on its circulation list.
Social workers and other human service workers are invited to be placed on the Locum and Employment register. We look forward to hearing from you soon and invite you to contact Dr Barbara Meddin, SPSW Locum and Employment Register Facilitator.

Benefits of the Register
The Register has been a resounding success for both for those seeking either employment or locum positions or employers seeking to fill positions either temporarily or permanently.
Feedback from employers for example has affirmed that the register is one of the most effective ways to link to prospective staff with several agencies saying they have had more success with advertising in the register than in the newspaper.
Individual Social Workers looking for employment opportunities have also found the register to be an effective way to find employment and frequently provide feedback about their success in being appointed to a position advertised on the Locum and Employment Register.
